Hunter’s Moon in Taurus: After the Harvest Comes the Question of What Is Actually Worth Keeping

The Full Moon on October 26, 2026 is the traditional Hunter’s Moon, and I want to begin with the name because October’s Full Moon carries a very different seasonal feeling from September’s Harvest Moon, since the Harvest Moon was about gathering what had grown while there was still enough light to work the fields, and the Hunter’s Moon came afterward, when the harvest had largely been brought in, the fields were more open, winter was approaching, and people turned their attention toward hunting, preserving food, preparing stores, and making sure there was enough to carry them through the colder months ahead.

That history gives this Full Moon an almost perfect symbolic language for the astrology of Taurus, because Taurus is deeply concerned with what sustains us, what makes us feel safe, what we own, what we value, what we can rely on, what nourishes the body, and what deserves to be protected, while the Scorpio Sun opposite the Moon is far less interested in simply preserving things because they already exist and much more interested in what needs to change, deepen, merge, transform, or finally be released.

The Full Moon becomes exact at approximately 12:12 AM Eastern on October 26, while readers in the Central, Mountain, and Pacific time zones experience the exact moment late on October 25, which is worth mentioning because this is one of those lunations where a single U.S. date can be slightly misleading depending on where you live, although astrologically we are all working with the same Taurus Full Moon at approximately 2°46′ Taurus, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Scorpio.

If September’s Harvest Moon in Aries asked you to look honestly at what the previous season had produced, this Hunter’s Moon asks the next practical question, which is what from that harvest is actually worth storing, protecting, investing in, and carrying with you into the next season, and what are you keeping simply because letting it go would force you to admit that something has changed?

That is where this Full Moon becomes much more interesting than another article about comfort, money, and taking a bath under Taurus energy.

🍂 Why October’s Full Moon Is Called the Hunter’s Moon

The Hunter’s Moon is traditionally the Full Moon that follows the Harvest Moon, and the name is connected with the old seasonal rhythm of the Northern Hemisphere, when the fields had been cleared after harvest and game animals were easier to spot across the open land while communities prepared meat and other supplies for the winter ahead.
