You lower expectations.

You stop bringing certain things up.

You tell yourself now is not the right time.

You become extraordinarily understanding.

Eventually, you have created a relationship where the other person can comfortably remain exactly as they are because you have become incredibly skilled at absorbing the difference between what they offer and what you actually need.

That is not emotional maturity.

That is emotional overfunctioning.

Why intelligent people can be especially good at explaining away bad behavior

There is an assumption that people remain in painful patterns because they cannot see what is happening, but sometimes the exact opposite is true.

You see everything.

You are simply brilliant at constructing explanations.

The more emotionally intelligent you are, the more sophisticated those explanations can become.

You understand attachment styles.

You understand trauma responses.

You understand childhood conditioning.

You understand defense mechanisms.

You understand astrology.

You know their Moon sign needs emotional safety, their Saturn placement carries fear, their Chiron reveals a wound, their Venus has complicated aspects, and Pluto has apparently been putting everyone through an existential washing machine for months.

All of that may be interesting.

Some of it may even be genuinely illuminating.

None of it changes the basic question:

How does this person consistently treat you?

Astrology can help you understand why two people trigger each other.

It can reveal communication differences.

It can illuminate attachment themes, emotional needs, fears, attractions, and growth opportunities.

What astrology should never become is an elaborate excuse generator.

“His Venus is in Scorpio” is not a medical exemption from honesty.

“She has an Aries Moon” does not mean screaming at you is spiritually required.

“Mercury retrograde” does not explain why somebody has been avoiding accountability since 2019.

“His Saturn makes commitment difficult” may be astrologically interesting, but if you want commitment and he does not provide it, the practical information remains exactly the same.

A birth chart describes tendencies and possibilities.

It does not remove responsibility.

That distinction matters enormously, especially when you love astrology enough to understand somebody’s chart almost better than they understand themselves.

Potential is incredibly seductive because potential never has to disappoint you

Reality has terrible public relations compared with potential.

Reality is what somebody actually does.

Potential is what they could do.

Reality is the relationship you have today.

Potential is the relationship that might exist once they heal, communicate better, become more secure, finish dealing with their ex, change careers, move house, get therapy, stop being afraid, understand themselves, survive their Saturn Return, and finally realize that you were wonderful all along.

Potential can be magnificent.

Unfortunately, you cannot date potential.
